Major differences between Christianity and Islam regarding their main books

First it should be mentioned that both worldviews claim that their book is the result of divine revelation, and both maintain that their books have been preserved through the centuries with a high degree of accuracy.

The Qur’an– despite the fact that it is claimed to have many contradictions the Muslims insist that it is the exact word of God – i.e. not mediated by men, and truly exact. It was written by Muhammad.

The Bible, Christians say, is the word of God inspired by Him to His people. The personalities and therefore the style of the different writers are different. Still it is well known that one of the reasons the Bible is considered totally unique is because it contains 66 books written by approx. 40 different authors throughout about 1600 years providing at the same time complete consistency of information. Despite the fact that it was written in 3 different languages -Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, on 3 different continents -Europe, Asia, Africa, over 15 centuries, by men from all possible occupations -kings, peasants, doctors, fishermen, scholars, etc., it remains in agreement on a widely diverse range of subjects.

So, in brief, Christians say, the Bible is a miracle in itself considering that it was written by 40 different writers from 3 continents over a period of 1600 years, approaching thousands of subjects without one contradiction or error, all their writing having one single central theme- the most important message of the book- God’s plan of salvation for human kind.
